My Block My Hood My City Exploration Program
Yesterday we hosted the My Block My Hood My City (M3) Explorers for the second time and had lots of fun showing them a brief overview of architecture and introducing them to the work we do here at LBBA. M3 explorers program provides underprivileged youth opportunities and awareness beyond their neighborhood by taking the teens on city-wide field trips every month where they visit an array of businesses, artful intersections, and challenge preconceived notions. In one of our activities, called the create document activity, students were asked to pair up in teams to make a sculpture/structure, write down instructions on how to build that structure, and then disassembled it for another team to rebuild using their guide. We also had great conversations about architecture, higher education, and careers in general.
