Dune Acres

Set into a tertiary dune off of Lake Michigan, this 4,000 sq.ft. house maximizes the uniqueness of its site. The carpenter constructed wood house is nestled into the dune and is visually pinned in place by the verticality of an intensely deep red stairway. The front of the house, which is oriented parallel to the dune is more secure and enclosed. To the south and west, the house is very open to the views of the heavily wooded dune and to Lake Michigan beyond. The interior stone floor and birch plywood detailing offer a perfect and clean backdrop for a simple lifestyle.
